Our first stop was at the American Girl store. My oldest two girls are past the doll stage, but they have enjoyed them in years past and it was fun to take our time looking around the store. They've read all the books and know the historical characters well. The boys tolerated it very well. :)
Our next stop was a reserved appointment at the Denver Mint. Security was as tight as at an airport and we weren't allowed to take in anything larger than a man's wallet. Cell phones were allowed but had to be turned off. There was definitely no picture taking permitted.
We parked in front of this building, and although I have no idea what it is, it looked important, so we took a picture in front of it. It faces the capitol building, so maybe that counts for something. :)

After the tour I got another shot on my phone. These are the front doors of the original building. Our tour was very informative and we got to see pennies and commemorative quarters being made. They make 20 million coins a day there!
Our next stop was Casa Bonita, a well known Mexican restaurant. I thought it would be a special treat for the kids, but we were not all that impressed. The food was so-so and the entertainment was just kind of there. We had a bit of fun anyway and the 3-story divers while we ate provided something unusual.

So that was our day. We picked up Chris from work, had dinner, and are enjoying down time in our suite now. More adventures await tomorrow!

Ah, Casa Bonita..... gotta do it once. And that's about all that's really necessary! :)

The Mint tour - how interesting! Casa Bonita...not known for their food unfortunately. :(
